This Friday, FIFA announced the new women’s classification for the month of December. Classification in which ESpain dropped to seventh place, the only one it occupied before FIFA made the table official in October. A classification that addresses 48 meetings since the specific beginning of the aforementioned month.
At the top, the United States continues to occupy the first place, maintaining this position of honor since 2017. It also remains in second place. Germany which in this case reduces the distances with respect to North Americans. There is only a five point difference between the two (2078.50 for the United States vs. 2073.73 for the Germans) which adds up to one point in this latest update. The Americans have also lost three of their last four games, one of them against the new second (1-2) and another of them definitely against Jorge Vilda’s team.
Sweden is in third position ahead of England, France and Canada, which has risen to sixth place, which explains why the Spanish team is in seventh place this time around.
There is no doubt that the fact that Spain was sixth in the previous update was key for the draw for the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand held on October 22, as it allowed Jorge Vilda’s team to be seeded. A draw that resulted in Spain facing Zambia, Costa Rica and Japan.
