Shocking but true. No Moroccan rival has scored a goal against Walid Regradui’s team. Surprise World Cup semi-finalists Qatar once again showed impenetrable defense against Portugal and made history by qualifying for the grand final, something no African team has ever done.
Against Morocco, great teams played, but not one of them found Bono’s goal net. Belgium, Croatia, Spain, Portugal… it doesn’t matter. They were all left blank against the Moroccan team.
Only Canada found a way to the goal, although it is true that it was attributed to Moroccan defender Nayef Aguerd. In other words, the only target against the African team was scored by a member of his team.
This granite defense allowed Morocco to overcome the odds. They topped their group against all odds, stunned Spain in the round of 16 by resisting all attacks and getting the better of a deadly penalty shootout for La Roja, and made Portugal desperate in by bringing out all their offensives to make it to the semifinals. A great merit.
