The Jairis Global Hozone borders on performance

Date:

He improves his game, but accepts his fourth straight defeat after a minor defeat in Vitoria against the mighty Araski

The Global Hozone had another stop yesterday in this hectic December. He played the third of the seven match days in Vitoria that are played in the last month of the year. Those from Suris visited the Mendizorroza Pavilion to face Kutxabank Araski, one of the teams in the best form in the category.

El Hozono started with Higgs, Bettencourt, Arrojo, Brcaninovic and a former Araski player like Tamara Seda in charge of setting up the Jairistas in the first offense of the match. Soon after, Brcaninovic extended the lead, but the local response came with a 7-0 run. Higgs, now maskless, responded with the visitors’ first triple (7-7), setting off an exchange of blows that would give Araski a definite advantage, forcing Eric Surís’ first timeout to four minutes to end the first period (9-15).

Asumendi 7, Atkinson 24, Van den Adel 14, Burani 9, Diarra 8 -starting five- Chagas 11, Alarcón 7, Ortiz de Zárate

Bettencourt 10, Higgs 15, Arrojo 4, Brcaninovic 17, Seda 4 – from five – De Souza 10, Mack, Contell 16, Cotano, Sánchez 3

The sewer technician switched parts and deployed Cotano and Contell, but the difference reached a maximum of 11 points at just over a minute to finish fourth (23-12), with the third of the Basque three-pointers. In the end, the electronic reflected a 25-16 result facing the start of the second chapter.

The reaction of the visitor was to be expected after the restart. This happened during the second quarter, when a triple by Contell left the difference in six (31-25). The response from the Vitoria women was immediate, including from outside the perimeter, but Bettencourt answered (34-28). The triples kept coming and Brcaninovic cut Jairis to three (36-33), narrowing the difference to just one run, again at the hands of a Contell who kept flashing his special magic.

The locals reacted shortly after the break to lead by four (41-37), but eventually Brcaninovic took advantage of Higgs’ last ball to save the rebound and, at the horn, left the halftime score at 41-39. In the second half everything still had to be decided, although the return after the dressing room was not well received by Hozono Global Jairis. Araski recovered an income of between 5 and 7 points. Still, the Jairistas remained in contention through the traditionally ill-fated third period.

The insistence eventually paid off and at 1:30 before reaching the final period, Contell tied the score (55-55). Finally, the fourth ended with a run of 18-18, with Araski only two points ahead (59-57).

Those of Vitoria took the lead again at the beginning of the decisive fifteen minutes. It was time to swim against the grain and the Jairistas did it again, with a triple by Alejandra Sánchez midway through the period (64-64). Trouble came when Araski once again escaped in a blink of an eye on the scoreboard with a run of 11-2 (75-66), three minutes from the end.

Again, Alcantarilla’s earned the right to an extra ball. He opened the door for the hopeful Brcaninovic, with two consecutive triples, and left the game in a fistfight after just over a minute (77-75). The Bosnian-German was able to equalize from a free kick, but missed one of her attempts (77-76).

Yes, Araski scored on the next possession, forcing him to look for the triple. Higgs tried, but his shot missed the ring. With less than 10 seconds left on the clock, there was nothing to do but look for a quick free-kick, which ended with a free-kick that already resulted in an insurmountable four-point difference. Contell ended the clash with a three-pointer (80-79), which culminated in Jairis’ fourth straight loss.
