The national airline of Morocco claimed it was canceling all flights scheduled for Wednesday to bring fans to Doha for the semi-final of World Cupciting what he said was “a decision by the authorities of Qatar“.
“Following the latest restrictions imposed by the Qatari authorities, Royal Air Maroc regrets to inform customers of the cancellation of their flights operated by Qatar Airways,” the airline said in an emailed statement.
Royal Air Maroc had earlier said it would fly an additional 30 flights to help fans get to Qatar for Wednesday night’s semi-final match against France, but on Tuesday a source at a RAM travel agency said said they only scheduled 14 flights.
The cancellation of all seven scheduled flights meant RAM was only able to fly seven flights on Tuesday, leaving fans who had already booked game tickets or hotel rooms unable to travel . RAM said it would refund the plane tickets and apologized to customers.
