Achraf Hakimi, Moroccan national team wingerhe said this Saturday, after finishing in fourth position in the 2022 World Cup with a loss against Croatia (2-1), the pride and satisfaction of the whole team in having “something historic” for the country and for Africa.
“We want to get third place to give our fans joy after a great journey we made, like reaching the semifinals and playing third and fourth place. We should be happy and proud. We cannot give them this final victory, but we will go with our heads held high,” Achraf explained.
“It’s not just from Morocco, it’s from a continent and a whole country that supports us. We put a continent, a flag raised and we are proud of the work and all the way we have done”, added the Paris Saint Germain winger, who described the fourth position as “something historic”.
“All the players deserve a great reception. In Morocco they are very happy and very proud. The semifinals are not easy to reach. There are great teams that haven’t been there yet,” added Achraf.
Achraf also explained that this performance gives them “energy” for the African Cup. “We are going with a lot of motivation and a lot of confidence, after what we have achieved now,” he said.
