No surprises in the first matches of the second round of the Copa del Rey
This Tuesday, the first matches of the second round of the Copa del Rey began, and they did so with six teams from the First Division, teams that want to avoid surprises in tournament situations where the humble are a tough nut to crack, more even with single match qualifiers and in the field of the inferior rival.
Elche and Getafe were the first to open the second round, against Guadalajara and Diocesano respectively. The Elche team, with the impetus of Pablo Machín’s debut on the bench, quickly took the lead with a goal from Pere Milla.
From there, domain of the white team. Guadalajara for their part failed to create dangerous chances against a comfortable Elche who scored another goal in the second half. The Elche team put the finishing touches to the game in the 93rd minute, the work of Tete Morente, to win 0-3 and live up to the saying “new coach, certain victory”.
Getafe also participated and defeated Diocesano 0-2, not with a huge result, but with hardly any suffering for Quique Sánchez Flores’ team. Munir El Haddadi was in charge of opening the can after half an hour into the game, and the Moroccan striker himself did the same in the second half to complete his particular double and close the match.
No surprises for now, four teams from the League still have to play their matches on this first day of the second round of the Copa del Rey. Guijuelo-Villarreal, Real Unión-Mallorca and Sestao River-Athletic Club are already on the line.
