Francis Roig, new coach of former No. Sloane Stephens is 3

The Catalan coach last week left the technical team of Rafael Nadal after 18 seasons. The Argentine joined in his place Gustavo Marcaccio.

The 29-year-old American tennis player is aiming very high because he is the only winner grand slam in 2017, but he has struggled to make a bigger impact on tour since then and will be hoping Roig can help him rediscover his best form after briefly working with him in the past.

“Very happy to announce that Francis Roig will be my coach this season. Here’s to a successful journey together, let’s get to work,” tweeted Stephens.

The American player won his seventh title this year WTA in Guadalajara (Mexico), his first trophy since 2018. He also reached the quarterfinals of the Roland Garros, round in which he lost against his compatriot Coco Gauff. In 2018, Stephens played in the final of the Parisian Grand Slam and the female masters.
