Badosa kept Spain alive in the United Cup after a tough battle

Date:

Spain is still alive in the United Cup. The Spanish team faced the difficult task this Sunday of having to overcome 0-2 with Great Britain dominating the series after victories by Cameron Norrie against Rafa Nadal and Katie Swan against Nuria Párrizas and, so far, things started well.

Paula Badosa made it 1-2 after defeating Harriet Dart 6-7(6), 7-6(5) and 6-1 in an epic battle that lasted over three hours.. The match started badly for the Spaniard, who found himself at 5-2 with what appeared to be an end to the first round. But there he brought out his best tennis to score four consecutive games and stand at 6-5 and serve.

After forgiving two set points, Badosa held her serve to fall in the tiebreak for a tight 8-6.

The second set started better, with the dominant Badosa immediately breaking away (3-1). However, the British recovered and managed to level the set and turn the match into a tiebreaker with the Catalan leading with a clear 5-0.

Despite making life difficult with the occasional unforced error, Badosa ended up in the second set thanks to a double fault from Dart.who accused the blow in the third set, where the player from Begur threw and returned to show the game that led him to become number 2 in the world last year to put the final 6-1.

});

The next ‘match ball’ has to save it Albert Ramos, who will replace Pablo Carreño, who has physical discomfort, in the fourth point tie against Daniel Evans.

The final match will be between Rafa Nadal and Paula Badosa against Evans and Dart.
