Joan Mir (Repsol Honda) featured on Tuesday the challenge of team sharing with 8-time motorcycling world champion Marc Márquez.
“Share a box with Marc It’s a big challenge, but it can also be something very positive, because you measure yourself against the best driver on the grid and that will make you push and get something more out of yourself to perform a little better,” Mir said in a statement released by the team.
The former Suzuki rider, the MotoGP world champion in 2020, will seek to “be fast and fight for the podium” this season, even knowing that he will arrive at the golden wing factory at a “complicated time”.
“You need to set realistic goals. In the beginning, adaptation to the bike will be important to be comfortable and speed up this adaptation process.” Mir said, before adding: “I expect a rather complicated first part of the season, but I am confident that we will put everything in its place”.
Also, the Mallorca pilot he is optimistic after the first test with the Repsol Honda team in training in Valencia.
“My first feeling in the test in Valencia with the Repsol Honda team was very good. Obviously when you change teams you have to get to know all the people and adapt to the new dynamic, which is quite different. That is something that is needed I had to get used to it, but I liked the way of working”, he confessed.
Mir faces this new phase in “a decisive way” and is certain that it is “a moment where everything can be very good or quite bad”.
“Reaching the most successful team in history is a huge challenge. When you look at the past and the history that this team has, it gives you goosebumps.. Being a part of it is a wonderful honor and I really want to be up to the task”, he concluded.
