The Chairman of the Executive Board of Bayern Munich, Oliver Kahnsaid on Friday that the German club is in the process of renegotiating its advertising contract Qatar Airways while the Bavarian team is heading to Doha for their winter training camp.
Bayern have come under fire for their business ties with Qatar and its national airline amid allegations of human rights abuses committed in the emirate during the 2022 World Cup.
In an interview with the German newspaper ‘Bild’, Kahn said that the agreement with Qatar Airways, which expires at the end of the season, will only be renewed after an analysis of “sporting, economic and social” aspects. .
“Now we will start talks,” added the former goalkeeper of the Bavarian club. “At first, it was a matter of taking stock and assessing the respective interests of the two parties.”
Asked if the renewal has already been granted, Kahn, who is part of the expedition that has left for Doha, said: “As I said, we will enter into discussions. We will not give daily information.”
