Dorna Sports announced this Wednesday that, after 31 years with the company, Manel Arroyo has decided to leave his executive position as Commercial Director, although he will remain a shareholder and make available to Dorna all his experience as a strategic advisor in CEO. Carmelo Ezpeleta and the Executive Committee, in addition to providing assistance to the company during this transition. It will also provide support in finding a replacement to fill the position.
By official statement Manuel Arroyo explained that “my time at Dorna was the best that any professional could dream of. I had the privilege of being part of a very inspiring team under the leadership of Carmelo Ezpeleta, my boss and friend, who was the driving force that drove the continuous improvements in the sport, bringing MotoGP into its most competitive era and making the championship the gold standard for the sports entertainment industry.”
“I’m extremely proud of the team we’ve built, leading the reimagining of sport and fearless innovation in content creation. I’m also proud of the long-standing relationships we’ve built with our partners, who have become true friends dedicated to the journey. I want to thank the FIM, the riders and teams, as well as our broadcasters and partners, for the incredible relationship we have enjoyed.”
“In my new role, I look forward to continuing to help MotoGP and Dorna grow, while using my knowledge and experience to assist third parties with new ventures in the sports, entertainment and media industries, and to make our sustainable world”, concluded Arroyo, whose role in these three decades has been decisive in the digital transition and in the signing of television contracts, the main source of income for the championship.
Carmelo Ezpeleta, CEO of Dorna Sports assured that “Manel is an incredible asset to the company and a better friend, who I personally started working with in 1988, before Dorna. brought incredible growth to our sport”.
