Arsenal took it one step further this Sunday heading into what would be their first Premier League since 2003-04 and they did so by winning the derby 0-2 against Tottenham, their great rivals from north London. Since 2014 the ‘Gunner’ team has not won at home to Spurs in the English championship and they did it thanks to an own goal from Hugo Lloris and a goal from Martin Odegaard. Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal, leader of the Premier, already has 8 points more than 2nd, Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.
Arsenal showed at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium the arguments that propelled them towards the long-awaited Premier. His quality, his stability, his attitude, his efficiency in attack and defence. This means a full test for Arteta’s players his visit to his great rival in North London and they approved them with flying colours. His defense keeps Harry Kane and his teammates at bay. Aaron Ramsdale was provincial for the Gunners with several excellent saves. Stellar.

The Premier leader took the lead in the 14th minute, after a cross from Bukayo Saka, Lloris put the ball into his own goal. A very difficult blow from which Tottenham (currently 5th in the table, 14 points behind Arsenal) did not succeed, despite all their attempts.

Because Arsenal also want more goals. Lloris made a great save on a shot from Odegaard and Thomas Partey smashed a ball past the post. What was the prelude to the second goal for the Emirates, a great shot by Odegaard himself from the edge of the area on a play started by William Saliba and followed by Saka, who assisted the ‘gunner’ captain on 36′.

Through Dejan Kulusevski, Tottenham also created chances. Son Heung-min had plenty, including a pass from Ryan Sessegnon. Harry Kane had a lot of problems finding suitable balls. Ramsdale responded with a great save from a kick from the England captain and another from Sessegnon. Kane had only previously failed to score in a derby in all his appearances against Arsenal.

Inadvertently, Tottenham were disconnected in certain sections of the match. The derby was for an Arsenal who prevailed with authority, decided their goals and neutralized their rival. An Arsenal who, although still have a long way to go, are flying towards the Premier.
