La Salernitana, 16th in Serie A, announced the dismissal on Monday of their coach, Davide Nicola, a day after the defeat suffered by the team at Atalanta (8-2), which extended the losing streak to six games without a win.
Davide Nicola achieved permanence last season of Salernitana. He arrived in February, when the team was at the bottom, and he managed to turn the situation around and for Salernitana to avoid relegation, with the club renewing his contract.
La Salernitana released a statement after Nicola’s dismissal: “The club thanks the manager for his passion and dedication (and) for achieving the historic goal of staying in Serie A and wishes him the best in his career.” Nine points separate the Salerno team from relegation.
This This is the sixth change of coach on the benches of Serie A 2022-23 after Bologna, Monza, Sampdoria, Verona and Cremonese. Giuseppe Iachini and Roberto D’Aversa chose to lead the Salernitana, but not aside the internal solution. On a temporary basis and at least for Saturday’s match against Napoli, the head of the lower teams, Stefano Colantuono, took over.
