The Spanish Track Team will face its debut at the 2022 Nations Cup

Ang Glasgow Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome will host from this coming Thursday 21 to Sunday 24 April the beginning of Track Nations Cup 2022 and will begin with major international events in the discipline of this course.

This year, the Track Nations Cup will have three events: it’s first date on glasgow and later two more on Milton (Canada)), from May 12 to 15, and on Cali, Colombia)from July 7 to 10. All of this will be very important, because as happened with the dead World Cup, they will provide decisive points for the classification for the next edition of World championship and the futures 2024 Paris Olympics.

The Spanish National Team, aware of the importance of these events, has conducted three previous concentrations to prepare in detail its participation in them and will select a team consisting of 14 cyclists, 10 long-distance runners and 4 sprinters in Glasgow.

The national coach, Juan Martínez Oliver, was selected as the long-distance runners Tania Calvo, Eukene Larrarte, Laura Rodríguez, Naia Amondarain, Isabella Escalera, Sebastián Mora, Erik Martorell, Xavi Cañellas, Telmo Semperena and Jaime Romero; while the group of sprinters will be included Ekain Jiménez, Pepe Moreno, Alejandro Martínez and Helena Casas.

Calendar of Activities

The competition will begin on Thursday 21 with qualifying rounds for the Team Pursuit and Team Speed ​​tests. The Spain National Team, after working in both disciplines in recent months, will feature a male quartet consisting of Sebastián Mora, Erik Martorell, Xavi Cañellas and Jaime Romero, with Telmo Semperena in return; and a female quartet consisting of Tania Calvo, Eukene Larrarte, Naia Amondarain and Isabella Escalera, with Laura Rodríguez in place. The men’s speed trio, meanwhile, will consist of Pepe Moreno, Alejandro Martínez and Ekain Jiménez.

On Friday, the 22nd, we will have Helena Casas in Individual Speed, Alejandro Martínez and Jaime Romero in CRI Kilometer, Erik Martorell in Individual Pursuit and Sebastián Mora and Tania Calvo in Elimination. On Saturday 22 there will also be an extensive program that will include the Women’s Individual Pursuit, which will feature Laura Rodríguez and Isabella Escalera; the 500 m CRI, where Helena Casas will compete; the Keirin man, where we see Pepe Moreno and Alejandro Martínez; the women’s Omnium, where we will be represented by Tania Calvo; and the Madison man, where we can enjoy the duo formed by Erik Martorell and Sebastián Mora.

On closing day, on Week 23, we will have the presence of Sebastián Mora at Omnium, Alejandro Martínez and Pepe Moreno at Individual Speed, Helena Casas at Keirin and Tania Calvo and Laura Rodríguez at Madison.
