Pumas UNAM will punish Dani Alves

Date:

Brazilian winger Dani Alves, who is in jail in Barcelona after a woman accused him of sexual assault, will be sanctioned by his club, Pumas UNAM of Mexican soccer.

“The Club Universidad Nacional will implement the actions and penalties, as established in the labor contract entered into with the athlete, as well as in the Internal Work Regulations,” explained this Friday the club representing the Autonomous University of Mexico, one of the most important in Latin America .

Alves, 39, was arrested on Friday in Barcelona and, after giving a statement, was jailed for allegedly raping a woman in the bathroom of a nightclub in the Catalan capital on December 30.

The judge handling his case ordered jail without bail for the soccer player, considering that he presents a high risk of flight, given his economic abilities and that he lives in outside of Spain, in Mexico.

The Pumas indicated that “soon” they will report the penalties to which the Brazilian soccer player is credited.

In Mexico since summer

Alves arrived at Pumas in July 2022 as the Mexican league’s star reinforcement in the transfer market ahead of the Apertura 2022.

The Brazilian’s impact on the field was not positive as the Pumas occupied the penultimate place in the Apertura standings, outside the title race, in the former Barcelona player’s first tournament.

The Mexican league issued a press release a few hours before the Pumas in which it claimed to be aware of the evolution of the Alves case.

“The MX League, in conjunction with the National University Club (Pumas), is pending the case and the legal situation of the player to determine what is appropriate regarding his participation in the league,” the agency published.
