Mallorca’s coach, Javier Aguirre, stated after the victory (1-0) against Celta de Vigo that he felt “satisfied” for adding three very important points, but was “worried” about the image given of his team in the first half.
“The first part we were very bad and that worries me. As they say here, we had a pasty. Celta won balls from us and we resorted to hit the ball. Then we changed things, the drawing, and it improved against an opponent . who, like us, often play in every game and that’s what made it difficult for us”, asserted the Mexican coach.
Mallorca has 25 points on the table, almost more than half of what it needs to save the category, but Aguirre is not confident.
“My experience in more than 400 games in LaLiga tells me that we have to be careful and not deviate from our goal. The dressing room is focused on putting a good game in Cádiz to close the first round well. We have to recover we were at the level before the World Cup game break (in Qatar). It is true that at home we added two wins but we were not consistent”, specified the Mallorcan coach.
Aguirre insisted on making public the complaints about his team’s play in the first half.
“Celta is a team similar to Valladolid. They play good football and I’m surprised that we don’t like the ball. It’s complicated because you’re at home and we have to follow them from the beginning. However, we’ll go home happy for victory”, remarked Javier Aguirre.
