Frenchman Coquard wins the fourth stage and Bilbao continues in 3rd overall

the French cyclist Bryan Coquard (Cofidis) the sprint is awarded in the fourth stage of Tour Downcontested over 133 kilometers between Port Willunga and Willunga Township, after which the Australian Jay Vine (UAE-Team Emirates) continues to lead the overall classification.

Coquard celebrated his first victory of 2023 this Saturday, his first in the World Tour, after launching an attack on arrival 200 meters from the finish line and crossing after 2 hours, 53 minutes and 41 seconds at the front of the peloton.

Clinging to his wheel came the Italian Alberto Bettiol (EF-Education Easy Post) and the French Hugo Page (Intermarché-Circus-Wanty) and Paul Penhoët (Groupama-FDJ) within the group where they entered at the same time the Spaniards Pello Bilbao (Bahrain Victorious), Gorka Izagirre (Movistar Team), Imanol Erviti (Movistar Team) and Lluis Mas (Movistar Team).

Bilbao, winner of the day yesterday, remains 15 seconds behind Vine in the general classification along with British Simon Yates. The fourth position goes to the American Magnus Sheffield (Ineos), in 45 seconds, and the fifth to the Swiss Mauro Schmid (Soudal-Quick Step) in 46.

The second Spaniard in the table is Gorka Izaguirre, who continues, eleventh at 1:01.

This Sunday the fifth and final stage will be held at 114 kilometers between Unley and Monte Lofty.
