The new X-Trail breaks with the established order

Date:

After 20 years of promoting family adventures, the 7-seater SUV is electrified

Since its launch in 2002, the X-Trail has sold nearly seven million units worldwide, making it one of the best-selling SUVs. For this new X-Trail, Nissan has built on the DNA of its predecessors and brought it to a new standard with a more premium design, a robust yet refined image, and the versatility and performance of all-wheel drive. The new X-Trail is available with five and seven seats, offering the version that best suits customers.

At the heart of the new X-Trail is Nissan’s exclusive e-Power system, which offers great responsiveness thanks to the fact that the drive wheels are moved solely by an electric motor, making response instantaneous, linear and exceptionally smooth .

Powered by the Alliance’s new CMF-C platform, the new X-Trail sets a benchmark for advanced engineering, innovation and advanced technology, once again raising the bar in the crossover segment. Adventure enthusiasts will appreciate the dynamic performance and advanced technologies of the new generation Nissan X-Trail.

The X-Trail’s appeal over the previous three generations is based on its unmistakable styling, which conveys a sense of solidity and robustness without being aggressive. In addition, the exterior lines and interior design now take the model’s sense of perceived quality to the next level.

Both the exterior and interior of the new X-Trail reflect the spirit of the vehicle: versatile and adventurous, yet refined. The exterior is accentuated by signature Nissan design cues such as the floating roof and V-motion grille. The frontal appearance is dominated by distinctive headlights that appear to be molded into the front bumper, with a combination of daytime running lights and turn signals incorporated into the bonnet line.

The interior of the new Nissan X-Trail sets a new benchmark in the segment for quality, equipment, ambience and convenience. Nissan Intelligent Mobility’s advanced technologies are at the driver’s fingertips, with comfort and quality in every detail. High-quality materials, intelligent technologies and thoughtful details create a cab that offers advanced design and ease of use in every dimension.

Much attention has been paid to the ergonomic and tactile quality of the knobs and buttons to give them a high quality of perception and precision. Customers have clearly expressed a preference for easy-to-use features, so the X-Trail has simple and intuitive climate controls, as do the buttons that display functions such as audio and navigation in the center.

The top level of the floating center console houses the electronic gearbox, drive mode selector and 15W wireless charger. The installed charger provides real active charging, while others with similar functions only ensure that the phone’s battery is not drained. The ‘Butterfly’ opening center armrest provides easy access for rear seat occupants while creating ample storage space.

The new X-Trail will be the second model in Nissan’s European range to be equipped with Nissan’s innovative e-Power system, which enables 100% plug-in electric driving.

The e-Power system of the new X-Trail consists of a powerful battery, which is supplemented by a variable compression petrol engine, a power generator, an inverter and a 150 kW electric motor at the front. The unique thing about the e-Power system is that the petrol engine is only used to generate electricity, while the wheels are driven exclusively by the electric motor. This means that the internal combustion engine can always operate within its optimum range, resulting in lower fuel consumption in urban environments.

The electric motor is the sole source of traction for the wheels, so its response is instantaneous and linear, identical to any electric vehicle in the Nissan range. The instant response provides a thrilling feeling of high torque and smooth acceleration that makes it easier to get on or off the highway with more confidence. Thanks to the electric motor, there are no delays as with a combustion engine or a conventional hybrid.

One of the main features that sets the e-Power technology apart is its ‘linear tuning’, which controls the operation of the petrol engine and ensures that it runs at an appropriate speed in relation to the speed of the road, thus increasing the effect of “acceleration”. idle” of conventional hybrids under hard acceleration. Another advantage is the efficiency of the e-Power, which ensures that the engine only runs at the speed it needs, which is often low in urban and suburban conditions.

The e-Power drive system also guarantees a quiet ride: at 40 km/h, for example, the car’s noise is reduced by 8 dB compared to its competitors. Nissan’s exclusive e-Power system includes the innovative 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with variable compression. In addition to being part of the e-Power system architecture, which will account for the majority of demand for the vehicle, it will also be offered in a Mild Hybrid version with a power output of 120 kW (163 hp) and 300 Nm of torque in front-wheel drive configuration with Xtronic gearbox.

The new X-Trail features a new all-wheel drive system designed to work with Nissan’s 100% electric motors, the e-4orce. The powerful twin electric motor system delivers a total output of 157 kW (213 hp). The rear engine provides instantaneous torque response that is 10,000 times faster than a mechanical four-wheel drive system. In addition, the constant torque redistribution and near-perfect weight distribution contribute to a powerful yet smooth driving experience.

By specifically managing the power and braking of each wheel, providing smoothness and stability, the system enhances the driver’s confidence in setting out the intended driving line on any road surface, without changing driving style.
