The XV Euromarina Optimist Torrevieja Trophy closed its first day yesterday and did so with the wind as its protagonist. The day started cheerfully at 10-12 knots from 290º (W-West), the first test for the yellow group could only start at 11:05 am, 1 hour behind schedule, albeit in good conditions; from there the red and the blue and the white took the start.
The yellow group completed the first test, with a wind starting to show its worst face. The next three groups were able to complete their test and thus close a test for all groups, the most positive of the day together with the big favorites who managed to find their place on the regatta course.
In this sense, Blanca Ferrando (RCN de Valencia) is the leader, after a brilliant regatta in the red group. A comfortable victory without any problems for the Valencian. Also solid and strong were the Greek Emmanouil Anastasios Vomvylas (Greece) in his white group and the Ukrainian Sviatoslav Madonich (Ukraine). Something that worked more is the victory for the Polish Natasza Micewicz (Poland).
After several attempts and after almost two hours on the race course, the race committee decided to send the fleet ashore early in the afternoon and, given today’s weather forecast, with moderate winds expected until the first hour of the day, the organization has announced the start of the day 30 minutes, that is, if the wind permits, the first departures will be at 9:30 in the morning.
