The Czechs Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova (1) won their seventh slam crown by defeating Japanese Shuko Aoyama (10) and Ena Shibahara 6-4, 6-3in the doubles final of the Australian Open.
“You guys are incredible people. We had fun on the track. You always smile and look so happy. I like how you act and enjoy tennis. Thank you so much, for being such a wonderful role model.”, Krejcikova said to her Japanese opponents.
The first seeds already have Australian Open titles (2022 and 2023)Roland Garros (2018 and 2021), Wimbledon (2018 and 2022) and the United States Open (2022).
Now they will have a chance to win each of the ‘slams’ twice in the next edition of the competition to be held at Flushing Meadows.
In addition, the Czechs became the first couple to defend the crown since Italians Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci’s title in 2014.
