West Ham defeated Third Division Derby County 2-0 in the round of 32 of the English FA Cup and met Manchester United in the round of 16. Jarrod Bowen and Michail Antonio proved with their goals the superiority of the team led by David Moyes.
Derby County are no match for West Ham, who have buried in the FA Cup the problems they are suffering in the Premier League, a competition in which they have won just one game in eight (the last against Everton 2-0) and th -16 just one point behind the drop.
More oxygen for David Moyes
Moyes extended the oxygen he got nine days ago, when, after beating a rival like Everton to avoid relegation, he maintained his winning streak against Derby. Again, Bowen, who scored a double against Everton, became one of his team’s key players.
The striker was in charge of opening the scoring against Derby and ten minutes later added his eighth goal of the season in the official competition after finishing a header from Tomas Soucek from point-blank range.
Bowen set up a scrum that was eventually ruled out by Antonio in the second half. The Jamaican player, with a header, closed the account and proved the small revival of West Ham, with two consecutive victories in official matches gaining confidence for its next commitments.
