Date:

The World Athletics Doping Review Board (DRB) agreed that the applications of the six Russian athletes meet the exceptional eligibility criteria to compete at the international level as neutral athletes (ANA) under eligibility rule 3.2 while the Russian national federation (RusAF) remains suspended.

In approving these six applications, the Doping Review Board said that, in accordance with the decision of World Athletics As of March 1, 2022, all athletes, support personnel and officials from Russia have been excluded from all World Athletics events for the foreseeable future as a result of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

The proof of this is that there are no Russian athletes, even neutral ones, competing in World Cups in Oregon or the Europeans in Munich last year.

In addition, the Diamond League organization decided to exclude Russian athletes from competing in its matches and in December 2022, World Athletics informed the Russian Athletics Federation that the ANA 2022 process will continue until World Council of Athletics decide otherwise.

The World Athletics Doping Review Board (DRB) considered and approved the following applications under rule 3.2 to participate in international competitions, until the meeting of World Athletics Council in March 2023, as neutral athletes, until such competitions are open to athletes from Russia.

Additionally, any athlete granted ANA status for the 2022 season may continue pending the Council’s decision.

The six athletes who have now met the extraordinary eligibility criteria are Nikita Anishchenkov (high jump), Artyom Chermoshansky (long jump), Maxim Pianzin (March), Nikita Kurbanov (high jump), Danil Chechela (long jump) and Marina Kovaleva (background).
