McKibbin, just 20 years old and still winless on the DP World Tour, didn’t make the cuts earlier in the year in Abu Dhabi or Dubaiensured his presence on the circuit after finishing sixth in the Grand Final of the Challenge Tour de Mallorca, last November.
Now in Singapore it has started in a big wayfrom hole 10, added a total of 8 ‘birdies’ (5 of them in the last nine holes).
One stroke behind the leader is a quartet consisting of the Frenchman Mattieu Pavon, the Finn Sami Valimaki and the Swedes Joakim Lagergren and Simon Forsstrom.
The best Spaniards are Jorge Campillo (one ‘eagle’, three ‘birdies’, three ‘bogeys’) and Adrián Otaegui (six ‘birdies’, two ‘bogeys’, one doublebogey’), with 70 (-2 ), six blows from the head. Same as Paraguayan Fabrizio Zanotti (four ‘birdies’, two ‘bogeys’).
Alejandro del Rey presented a tour with 71 strokes (-1); Rafael Cabrera Bello made 72; Nacho Elvira and Santiago Tarrio left at 73 (+1).
