FIFA moved Al Ahly-Flamengo to Tangier and angered the fans

Date:

The fight for third place in Club World Cup will finally be held this Saturday at the stadium Ibn Battouta of Tangier and not to Prince Moullay Abdellah of Rabatas it was originally set.

The match will be played starting at 4:30 pm at the Tangier city stadium, where it was moved at the request of the organizers to keep the grass for the final between Real Madrid and Al Hilalwhich will take place at 20:00 on the same Saturday.

“Supporters who bought tickets for the double header will be informed shortly. ONCF, Morocco’s national rail operator, will organize special trips, allowing those who want to watch the third-place match in Tangier to do so. Holders of tickets can do so. to exchange them for new ones for the match for third place or they will have the option to request a refund”, FIFA said.

In Tangier the matches of Al Ahly-Auckland City in the first round, the Seattle Sounders-Al Ahly of the quarterfinals and the Flamengo-Al Hilal semifinal were played.

FIFA’s unilateral decision angered fans. “You cannot change the location of an international tournament like this. It is the ultimate disrespect to the fans, who thought they would see a double game regardless of the final,” said a travel agent.

“Most of the flights are booked by Brazilians for Sunday morning from Casablanca, which is only an hour from Rabat. Tangier is a long four-hour drive. That’s not time or flexibility to change those hotel reservations and flights. It’s crazy,” he lamented.
