Date:

In an interview given to UEFA before the round of 16 tie for Champions League in between PSG and the Bayern Munich, Sergio Ramos spoke about his departure from real Madridits adaptation to the French team and even its future.

Regarding his departure from the white team, he pointed out that “leaving the real Madrid this is a huge change. I got a lot from him Madrid, but I thought it was a good opportunity to change the scenery. Everything was hard at first. You have to find a house and live, especially when you’re with a family, with four children.”

And he admitted that “at first everything went wrong. I was injured, it was very difficult for me to recover and adapt to the new system, the new team and the new coach. You start doubting whether you did the right thing or not. But my career has been defined by consistency, perseverance and hard work. You keep fighting and that will mean more things in the future. What I can say is that I am where I want to be and at a club that wants to win Champions. I want to make the most of the rest of my playing career.”

Regarding finishing his degree, he said “I invest a lot of time in soccer and I don’t have time for family. So when I retire, I will spend two years raising my children, experiencing every day things that can’t be done with football. I see myself as president, sports director or coach.”

Finally, he also spoke about the situation of PSG. “There are many stars, some of the best players in the world. Winning is bringing everyone together looking at the same goal. If a team ends up winning, it’s because they put their personal egos behind them. The goal this season to achieve better versions of ourselves and stay balanced as a team. That’s more important than any star we might have.”
