The American Max Homa shot three under par on Friday and, with a minus-ten aggregate, leads the Pacific Palisades Genesis Invitational by himself (California) with an impact advantage over Spaniard Jon Rahm.
Homa delivered a card of 68 hits and he leads a group that, in addition to Rahm, includes Keith Mitchell and Lee Hodges (-9).
Rahm, who also finished his round with a 68 shot, started with an eagle, but a chain of three bogeys caused him to reach the tenth hole over par.
However, he signed three ‘birdies’ and an ‘eagle’ in his final holes which allowed him to beat Homa once.before a final ‘bogey’ that left him with a 68.
His ‘eagle’ on the 17th was caused by a missed shot, which ended up just centimeters from the hole after bouncing off the protective barriers. Rahm took it with a smile and didn’t miss the putt that made him the co-leader of the tournament.
BAD DAY FOR THE TIGER
Negative day for Tiger Woods, who delivered a card of 74 strokes, three over parafter a brilliant -2 on opening day.
The fifteen-grand winner spoiled his performance with three bogeys in the last four holes and his one-over par could allow him to make the cut strongly.
Tiger faces his first tournament since the British Open in Julyafter last year he played only three tournaments: the Augusta Masters, the PGA Championship and the aforementioned British Open.
Woods continues to live with ankle pain as a result of a serious road accident suffered in 2021.
