The German Marcel Siem won the duel with his compatriot Yannik Paul, after leaving with one shot less in the final round of the India Opento claim victory in New Delhi, with Spaniard Jorge Campillo fourth.
The prediction of a close fight between Paul and Siem for the victory, given the advantage with which they reached the last 18 holes, came true.
Siem, who exited with a back stroke, claimed his victory, the seventh of his professional career and the first since 2014, of 4 ‘birdies’ without a miss achieved until the 11th hole, while Paul at that point had just one ‘birdie’ and lost not only his advantage but two shots was placed behind his countryman.
In the remaining seven holes, Siem made one bogey and one birdie, while Paul made just one more birdie.
Third place went to Dutchman Joost Luiten that he failed to get close to the first two and he finished two shots behind the winner.
Jorge Campillo stayed in the top positions with 4 ‘birdies’ and 1 ‘bogey’, to finish in fourth placesix shots behind the winner tied with Japanese Kazuki Higa.
Ángel Hidalgo finished tenth, along with Pablo Larrazábal, both with 283 total strokes, while Santiago Tarrió was thirteenth with 284. and Alejandro Cañizares closed the Spanish participation in 23rd place with 287.
