Bad news for David Moyes’ West Ham. Their goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski will be out for a long time after suffering a fractured cheekbone and eye socket in Saturday’s Premier match against Nottingham Forest. This was confirmed by Moyes, coach of the ‘Hammer’ team, who won the match 4-0.
West Ham will face Manchester United this Wednesday in the FA Cup round of 16who on Sunday were declared Carabao Cup champions after beating Newcastle 2-0.
Moyes said that at the moment they do not know whether Polish international Fabianski, 37, will need to undergo surgery or not. In any case, the loss of the goalkeeper is a very difficult blow for West Hamwhich is only 2 points from the relegation zone in the Premier.
Fabianki has been a starter in all Premier League matches. He will be replaced by Alphonse Areola, who did so when the goalkeeper retired against Nottingham Forest. At Old Trafford another absentee is, due to injury, winger Vladimir Coufal, as well as Danny Ings, as he will miss the FA Cup (he already played for Aston Villa in that tournament).
