The player of Leicester City, Youri Tielemans, will be out for up to six weeks, coach Brendan Rodgers announced Tuesday. The Belgium international picked up an ankle injury after coming on as a substitute in the 1-0 defeat at Arsenal at the weekend and missed Tuesday’s FA Cup defeat at Blackburn Rovers.
“Youri will be gone for six weeks. Six weeks is like six months when you lose a player of that quality,” said Rodgers on a bad night for the Midlands club. “Unfortunately, he tore ligaments in his ankle and won’t be back before the international break.”
Leicester are just three points above the Premier League’s relegation zone and the loss of Tielemans comes at a crucial stage of the season for Rodgers. “We have a huge amount of games today and the only focus now is to get the best possible team every time we play, but it will be a struggle,” he said.
