Álvaro Bautista (Ducati), current champion and leader of the Superbike World Championship, set the second best time on the first day of free practice for the Indonesian GPthe second test of the season, which will be held at the Mandalika circuit.
Despite crashing at turn 1 of the Indonesian track, Bautista gave 29 thousandths to his teammate, Italian Michael Ruben Rinaldi, stopping the clock at 1:32.468. Third is the Turkish Toprak Razgatlioglu (Yamaha), at 0.157, and fourth is the British Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki, at 0.735.
Rinaldi was fastest in the first session with a 12:34.613 ahead of Razgatlioglu (0.056 behind) and Bautista (0.170 behind).. Everyone improved their performance in the second, where the Italian maintained his dominance and Bautista, despite suffering an insignificant fall, climbed a place at the expense of the Ottoman.
Also Spaniard Xavi Vierge (Honda) is eleventh at 1,325 behind Rinaldiwhile Iker Lecuona (Honda), who had a stomach problem and suffered two crashes, did not reach 1,984 from seventeenth.
