RB Leipzig beat Borussia Mönchegladbach 3-0 on Saturday, consolidating their Champions League position by temporarily moving up to third place in the Bundesliga.
Leipzig took a point from Union Berlin, who tomorrow can only achieve third place if they win their visit to Wolfsburg.
Leipzig’s goals were scored by Timo Werner (57′), Emile Forsberg, from a penalty (71′), and Josko Gvardiol (80′). Now Marco Rose’s side can only think about Tuesday’s visit to Manchester City with the aim of surprising them after a 1-1 draw at home in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16.

Eintracht Frakfurt, for their part, dropped points at home by failing to go from a draw to a goal against Stuttgart. Captain Sebastian Rode opened the scoring for Eintracht on 55 minutes, but 20 minutes later Silas equalized for Stuttgart.
With the tie, Eintracht remains in sixth position and has lost the battle for the Champions League places, remaining 4 points behind Union Berlin.
Seventh-placed Mainz did not take advantage of Eintracht’s draw and drew 1-1 against Hertha Berlin. With this, the distance that separates Mainz from Eintracht, and with it from the European places, continues to be four points.
