“I feel very happy and satisfied with all the work done to achieve my personal best here in Barcelona. Since I was fifth here in 2021 I think the circuit has improved and it was a good experience because it is a flat and fast track,” he said.
Kimutai, 29, competed for Kenya until 2017. In August 2021, the IAAF (International Athletics Federation) gave him permission to compete for Bahrain.
To date his personal best is 2:05:47, achieved on October 16, 2016 at the Amsterdam Marathon. His time in Barcelona was the second best world record of the year in the men’s category.
