Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson are on the first list of participants in the PGA Championship, a Grand Slam tournament, which also includes Jon Rahm, Sergio García and Adri Arnaus.
The American PGA has published the first list of participants for the 104th edition of the ‘major’ to be held in the Southern Hills in Tulsa (Oklahoma) next month.
Although he appears to be in a relationship, Woods has not confirmed his participation so far. The former world number one, who nearly lost his right foot in a traffic accident in Los Angeles last year, reappeared in an official tournament at the previous Augusta Masters.
He had a good start at one under par, but his performance gradually worsened, his strain worsened and he finished in the forty-seventh. “I didn’t have the stamina I would like, but for a few weeks I didn’t know if I was going to play.”, admits Woods, who made sure that despite this it was one of his most outstanding-only performances at the Augusta Masters and left the unknown in his competition at the PGA Championship.
Mickelson, 51, is the defending champion met at Kiawah Island Golf Resort in South Carolina. In his long and successful career he has achieved 45 circuit victories, including six ‘majors’.
Jon Rahm, currently world number two and winner of the US Open last year, was eighth in the final edition of the PGA Championship; Sergio García, winner of the Masters in 2017, did not make the cut in 2021; and Arnaus will premiere.
The final list will be announced on May 9 after the Wells Fargo tournament.
