Giulio Ciccone capped off a good start to the season with a win at Valter, end of the second period of the Volta. The Italian of Trek-Segafredo added his second victory of the year in the Catalan round after what was achieved in the second stage of Return to the Valencian Communityand also ascended to the third position of general of back.
Ciccone showed a great performance and managed to overcome two big favorites for the final victory: the Belgian Remco Evenepoel and the slovenian Roglic is a cousin, while he himself taught at the end of the stage. “I am very happy with this victory. I tried to follow Roglic and Evenepoel and there is no doubt that this is one of the great victories of my career.”
The achievement in Vallter was the ninth victory of Ciccone, two of them were achieved in Spain and three of them in Italy is spinning.
This Tuesday is the first stage of the Volta de montaña and there is more to do, with the second coming to the top this Wednesday, in La Molinatherefore Ciccone himself pointed out that “everything can change in the remaining stages of the mountain”.
