The ‘Spanish Armada’, the most powerful in Moto2

The “Spanish Armada” with up to twelve representatives, is the most powerful of the representations in the intermediate category of the motorcycling world championship, Moto2who from this weekend will fight to succeed Augusto Fernández, the last champion, at the top of the competition statistics table.

Out of a total of thirty riders competing for the Moto2 title, almost a third are Spanishbecause the next representation, Italy, will have four pilots, Great Britain with 3, and the United States, Japan and the Netherlands will have two and Germany, Thailand, South Africa, Belgium and the Czech Republic only one.

As has been the case in Moto3, the Moto2 champion is not in the category to defend the titlesince Augusto Fernández jumped to MotoGP in the hands of GasGas, where he will be joined by Pol Espargaró.

However, among the wide Spanish representation there are not a few names that have aspirations and the ability to aspire to a world title, with names such as Arón Canet, Pedro Acosta, Albert Arenas, Alonso López, Fermín Aldeguer, Izan Guevara, Sergio García Dols or Jeremy Alcobathey all have extensive world championship experience.

Along with them, a list of “neophytes such as Borja Gómez, Alex Escrig, Manuel González or Marcos Ramírez will participate.with some world championship experience but, perhaps, not yet at the same level as their competitors.

And this is up to the representation of the Spanish, because the Japanese Ai Ogura will not be forgottenwho last season fought almost to the end of the championship for the world title with Augusto Fernández.

You can’t forget the British Jake Dixon eitherwho starred in good performances throughout the year, as well as the Italian Lorenzo dalla Porta, the American Joe Roberts, in addition to the arrival of the South African Darryn Binder, who dropped from MotoGP after a fatal 2022 in the “queen category” of the championship.
