Sam Burns, champion of the prestigious World Match Play

The American Sam Burns26 years old and world number 15, the new champion of the prestigious World Match Play after knocking out his compatriot in the final Cameron Young through 6 holes of advantage and 5 to play on the course Austin Country Club, in Texas (USA). This is his fifth title on the American PGA Tour.

“I’m tired,” Burns rightly said after winning a very demanding tournament, as the American had to play seven rounds of match-play over four days, seven of which ended in victory, before lifting the champion’s trophy.

Eight birdies in the final allowed Burns to close out the match against 17th-ranked Young on the 13th hole, a final display of his fun week on the Austin course. His semi-final win against the current world no. 1, scottie scheffleris particularly associated with the road to his final victory.

Sam Burns defeated all three of his opponents in the group stage, Adam Hadwin (3 and 2), Adam Scott (1 above) and Seamus Power (2 above), and also the four heats: patrick cantley (2 and 1) in the eighth, mackenzie hughes (3 and 2) in rooms, scottie scheffler (1 above) in the semifinals and Cameron Young (6 and 5) in the final are their victims.
