The President of ACE, Nasser Al-Khelaifiand the President of FIFA, Gianni Infantinosigned today a new Memorandum of Understanding between FIFA and ECA at the 29th ECA General Assembly in Budapest.
Long term
The new long-term agreement strengthens the relationship between FIFA, as the governing body of world football, and the ECA, as the sole body representing the interests of European clubs. This will allow the ECA and FIFA to consolidate their close cooperation, which has existed since the birth of the ECA 15 years ago, which now has a new deadline of December 31, 2030.
The Memorandum of Understanding expands and deepens the existing cooperation between ECA and FIFA on matters of great importance for men’s and women’s club football, such as the calendar, the loan of players to national teams, the Program of Benefit for Clubs , which offers clubs a share of the revenue from national team competitions in exchange for players’ debt, and the insurance program that protects clubs in the event that players are injured during their participation in the national team.
He Club Benefits Programfor example, which previously paid all the clubs that loaned players for the men’s World Cup and was the main success of the former, will now increase from the 194 million euros distributed for the final tournaments of the FIFA World Cup 2018 and 2022 up to 330 million euros granted for the 2026 and 2030 tournaments. This is a difference of 135 million.
