Divorced from father – Rus (13) paints critical drawing – arrested

Date:

Because a 13-year-old in the Russian city of Yefremov made a drawing critical of the Russian military operation in Ukraine, she was separated from her father and taken to a juvenile detention center. The incident has caused a stir in Russia.

The case of 13-year-old Maria Moskalev has stirred many Russians. The girl had made a drawing at school of a rocket next to a Russian flag heading for a woman and child, who in turn were standing next to a Ukrainian flag. The director immediately called the police. She saw the drawing as a criticism of the Russian army – and that is forbidden.

Girl taken to juvenile detention center
According to Olga Podolskaya (pictured below), a Yefremov city councilor, the girl was taken to a juvenile detention center. And the 13-year-old was not allowed to have contact with her father, with whom she previously lived. “The police do not give any information, they do not comment on anything. They do not let us see her. Since March 1, we do not know what happened to Masha, whether she is here,” says Podolskaya.

Father risks several years in prison
The girl’s single father, Alexey Moskalev, (photo below) is under house arrest. The reason: the 54-year-old allegedly criticized the military special operation in Ukraine on social networks – his trial will begin soon. The accusation: discrediting the Russian armed forces. Not only does Moskalyov risk several years in prison, he could also lose custody of his daughter.

Only a few residents of the town of Efremov in the Tula Oblast (administrative district, und) about 300 kilometers south of the Russian capital Moscow dare to speak openly about the incidents. “That’s what worries me the most: casualties, more casualties, on both sides. I want this to be over as soon as possible. It’s very difficult,” said one pensioner.

Several soldiers who died in Ukraine have recently been buried in the local cemetery. “When my son was buried there were so many people. Everything was very dignified,” says Elena Artyushkova, the mother of a fallen Russian soldier.

Wagner boss campaigned for girls
Maria’s case has received national attention, sparking an online petition calling for the child to be returned to his father. Even Yevgeny Prigozhin, head of the paramilitary mercenary group Truppe Wagner, which is leading the Russian offensive in the embattled Ukrainian city of Bakhmut, has spoken out for Maria and criticized local authorities for their actions.
