The Peruvian Football Federation (FPF) regretted the confrontation between some players and members of his team and some agents of National Police guaranteeing their safety at the doors of the NH Collection Eurobuilding hotel in Madrid, during the traditional waving of the flag by the fans in support of the team and showing their support for the goalkeeper Pedro Galleseone of the involved.
“The Peruvian Football Federation (FPF) regrets the events that took place in Madrid, where the traditional banner of fans supporting “LaBicolor” was held. The FPF fully supports and supports our chosen Pedro Gallese whom, accordingly, we have been escorted since the incident occurred outside the team’s concentration hotel, before the friendly match against Morocco,” he said in a statement.
“Likewise, we reiterate that we are respectful of the authority and procedures of each country we visit. For this reason, we are at the full disposal of internal and external control agencies to help clarify what happened,” he adds about what happened.
The clash took place when, according to police sources and as confirmed by videos recorded by witnesses, some of the players of the Peruvian team went beyond the security perimeter marked to greet the fans at the doors of the hotel that they are staying. Because of this, the agents of the Police Intervention Unit (UIP), better known as the riot police, told them to return to the hotel door, and start the fight.
In its message, the FPF “thanks the cooperation of the Consulate of Peru in Madrid, headed by Fernando Álvarez, as well as the support of the lawyer Carlos Quiñónez” and added: “We call for the calm and tranquility of our fans and we express our total rejection of violence. We will continue to promote mutual respect and we will ensure the integrity and rights of Pedro Gallese and all our chosen, technical command and work team”.
