Roberto Bautista received one of the invitations to the Estoril Open

The Spanish tennis player Roberto Bautista has received one of three invitation cards for the Estoril Open and join the list of participants in the Portuguese tournament, the organization reported today.

Bautista Agut, number 28 in the world ranking, is one of the three “wild-cards” of the Estoril Open, describing him in a statement as “a great name in Spanish and world tennis.”

“We are very happy to have Roberto Bautista Agut, a tennis player who is among the top 10 in the world and whose amazing resume speaks for itself. He is, without a doubt, a great name in Spanish and world tennis,” said the race director, João Zilhão.

For his part, the Valencian athlete assured the note that he is “very excited” to compete in the main tennis tournament in Portugal.

“I really want to start my clay court season here. I hope to compete at the highest level in front of my Portuguese fans and all the Spaniards who will be there to support us,” he said.

Bautista Agut, 34, is one of five Spanish tennis players who will attend the Portuguese court, which will also host. Alexander Davidovich (position 25), Barnabas Zapata (41), Albert Ramos (51) and Pedro Martinez (121).

Participants also include names such as Norwegian Casper Ruudnumber four in the ranking, and last year’s winner, is Argentina Sebastian Baez (35).

The Estoril Open, an ATP 250 clay court tournament, will be held between April 1 and 9 in this town located about 25 kilometers from Lisbon.

Celebrated since 1990, among its winners are the Serbian Novak Djokovic, the Swiss Roger Federer and the Spanish Sergi Bruguera and Pablo Carreño Busta, among others.
