High altitude duel for Badosa in Charleston: against Pegula and in prime time

the American Jessica Pegula, met Paula Badosa in the quarterfinals of the Charleston tennis tournament (United States), after defeating Romanian Irina Camelia Begu.

The 29-year-old player from Buffalo and one of the best tennis players on the women’s circuit is aiming for Charleston’s first victory in 2023 and the third of his career after last year’s harvest at the WTA 1000 in Guadalajara and again in Washington in 2019.

Pegula defeated Romanian Irina Camelia Begu, fifteenth seed, 7-5, 4-6 and 6-4 for two and a half hours. A semifinalist in Miami last week and a finalist in Doha, the American will face twelfth-seeded Paula Badosa, who previously defeated Russian Diana Shnaider 6-1, 6-3 with authority.

The game starts at 01 am from Friday to Saturday in Spain and this will be the second confrontation between the two. The only time they played was in Miami in 2022 with a victory for Pegula because with a score of 4-1 the Spanish tennis player retired injured.
