Spain, runner-up in the 10,000-meter European Cup, and FIFA took bronze

The Spanish women’s team, consisting of Esther Navarrete, Cristina Ruiz, Laura Priego, Maitane Melero and Laura Luengowas declared this Saturday as the teams’ runner-up in the 10,000-meter European Cup in Pace (France)wherein Ilias FIFA, at the individual level, bronze is hung in the race of men.

The women’s team did not achieve any podium at the individual level but only finished second behind Germany, whose athletes dominated the race with the victory of Alina Reh (32:15.47) and copper of Domenica Mayer. The money went to the Ukrainian Valerie Zinenko.

The first Spanish finisher was Ester Navarrete, who in her third European Cup stopped the clock in seventh with 32:45.04, just four seconds less than her teammate Cristina Ruiz (32:49.60), debutant in competition, coming into the event with the best mark (32:08.70) of anyone recorded on this course.

sixteenth is Laura Priegoalso rookie, who completed 33:16.04, one minute less than the fourth Spaniard at the finish line, Maitane Melero (34:26.48), two-time Spanish champion of 10,000 meters and in 2022, on this same track, achieved his personal best in 32:08.57.

The fifth and final line ending in Spanish is Laura Luengowho came in 32nd with a 34:59.60.

With this silver medal, Spain once again captured the continental podium four years after doing so for the last time in 2019. In total, in the 10,000-meter European Cup, the women’s team achieved 15 medals divided by three golds , six silver and six bronze.

ILIAS FIFA BRONZE AND SPAIN FOURTH

In the men’s category the victory went to the Italian Yemaneberhan CrippaEuropean champion of 10,000 meters on the track in Munich 2022.
