Ducati’s test rider Michele Pirro will replace the injured Enea Bastianini at the Grand Prix of the Americas this weekend in Austin, Texas, as reported by the official team.
bastianini suffered a broken right shoulder at the start of the MotoGP season in Portugal last month and also missed the Argentina race.
Ducati said it underwent a new test in Forli after completing several laps around the Misano circuit on a Panigale V4S superbike.
The clinic confirmed that Bastianini will need a few more weeks to fully recover.
“Enea will therefore continue his rehabilitation with the aim of returning to the track in Jerez and will be replaced in Texas by Michele Pirro,” added Ducati.
Pirro, 36, last competed in the Circuit of the Americas in 2016 in place of Danilo Petrucci at Pramac Ducati, who finished eighth. He raced eight times in the last three seasons with a best finish of 11th.
