Nobody can match the explosiveness of Demi Vollering in the female Asmtel

Date:

After a war without quarter, with some cyclists trying to find glory in their attacks, the decisive moment of Women’s Amstel Gold Race less than two kilometers from the finish line, on the last pass on the last hill of the day, is famous cauberg. There is another 1.7 kilometers, the Dutch Demi Vollering (26 years old) transferred from the select group of the strongest runners of the day, which was the Movistar world champion Annemiek Van Vleutenthe Basque Anne Santesteban and the balearic Mavi Garcia, in a deadly movement that no one answered at first.

the cyclist of Pijnacker -2nd in the last edition- made a good attack on the upper part of the Cauberg (0.6 kilometers at an average slope of 8.3%), after other prominent members of the peloton did before, like Soraya Paladin, Grace Brown, Lorena Wiebes or Kristen Faulkner.

He quickly took a few seconds, not too much but enough, to stand at the finish line with more than enough margin to celebrate the victory as dictated by the canons. From behind, they paid dearly for their overstudy to see which of them would make the move and in the end they had to compete among themselves for two more places on the podium, which went to Lotte Kopecky and Shirin Van Anroijsecond and third respectively.

In this way, Vollering, who before the start declared that he was “very excited” to win the Amstel Gold Race, achieved the third victory of the season after only six days of competition, and what three victories, those achieved in Strade Bianche, in Through Flanders and this Sunday in the Amstel Gold Race, also second inl Tour of Flanders and in Brabanzon Arrow.
