Mareille Meijering, Movistar’s new signing

Date:

the dutch Mareille Meijering, (Utrecht, 28 years old), became the sixteenth rider in the Movistar squad with a contract until the end of 2024, so he will debut in the professional field.

The Dutch will join the group led by Sebastián Unzué on May 1and he has been training these days with his new teammates taking advantage of the classics from the Ardennes.

Meijering is entering what will be his first season dedicated professionally to the bike. With a degree and a master’s degree in Economics, Mareille combined her work as a teacher -she taught at the Rijksuniversiteit of Groningen and at the University of Utrecht- and her work in the private sector with an amateur dedication to cycling, with more than impressive performance at the national level.

After covering 2022, with the continental team Multum, his first World Tour outside the Netherlands, he ran and finished the Tour of Flanders, Ghent-Wevelgem and Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, 2023 is the year of his hatching. He was tenth overall in the UAE Tour and top-ten in Valencia, results that opened the doors of the telephone companies as their 16th member this year.

The last few months have been a real roller coaster for me. If you had told me half a year ago that I would reach a team like this, I would not have believed it.. Last year it was an adventure for me to compete in World Tour races while working as a teacher. This year, I have been able to focus more on training, running and, above all, resting and not having to worry about a full-time job like I have”, declared the new Movistar runner.
