Bayern Munich is a powder keg. The German team is still in shock after relegation to the Champions League and it has worsened its poor run of results by finding itself followed by mainz. As a result, the Bavarians lost the lead against a Dortmund team determined to dethrone the German champions.
Bayern fans are conflictedespecially in team direction and Oliver Kahn. The club’s general manager is in the eye of the storm and Bild assures his position is at risk if the current dynamic continues. However, the former goalkeeper assured on Saturday that he is not thinking of leaving his role.
“I have no problem with criticism. I’ve been through a lot in my career and I know what it means when things don’t go well at Bayern Munich. We are all responsible, you just have to face it now. But I won’t give an inch here. Despite this poor performance, we can be German champions again this season,” he said after Bayern’s defeat against Mainz.
Kahn does not accept excuses for the turmoil surrounding the team. “What kind of insecurity? What kind of uncertainty is there? In the end, we weren’t bringing enough on the field. Now, we’ve fallen back into that channel. We’ve explored so many possibilities with the players. At one point, everyone you need to cover your nose.”
Finally, the Bayern CEO hinted that “Thomas Tuchel is the last one we should talk about. He tries everything to get ahead of the boys.”
Kahn’s decisions
Some of his decisions take a toll on Kahn. In the middle of the break of the national team, the director of Bayern decided that fire Julian Nagelsmann and putting on Thomas Tuchel, a controversial action given the Bavarian team’s successful streak in the Champions League, where they count their games by victories, even removing the PSG of Messi and mbappe.
He also had to take part in the scuffle in between Sadio Mané and Leroy Sanewhen the Senegalese hit the German in the face after an argument in Manchester.
If Tuchel is unable to energize the team, Kahn’s position may be further compromised.
