The decision, issued on April 19, is final, so Vampeta can no longer file appeals against the embargoes.

The plaintiff is the Castanheiras School, an educational center in Santana de Parnaíba, a city in the metropolitan region of Sao Paulo, which collected eight monthly fees from the daughters of the former soccer player that were not paid in 2013.

The school assures that the debt amounts to 215,000 reais (about 38,778 euros) with interest and fines at the rates of that time, updated by the judge. The educational center itself presented the Court with a list of trophies won by the Corinthian idol and that could be confiscated.

The ex-footballer blames his ex-husband

The former soccer player claimed in his defense that the person responsible for the school contract was his ex-husband, who was responsible for paying with the alimony he transferred to her. “The parents are obliged, jointly, to satisfy certain obligations of the relatives,” the judge argued when rejecting the defendant’s arguments.

Roberta Soares, the ex-soccer player’s ex-wife, admitted that she did not pay school fees because Vampeta was late in paying alimony.

The confiscation of assets was decided after the same court authorized the freezing of the former soccer player’s bank accounts, where only 3,385 reais (about 610 euros) were retained, not enough to pay off the debt.

In July 2022, also convicted of non-payment of debt, the former flyer offered to sell a residence worth about 650,000 reais (about 117,238 euros).

A great record among the Corinthians

Vampeta, who was part of the Brazilian team that won the 2002 World Cup, was the Brazilian champion with Corinthians in 1998 and 1999, as well as the Club World Cup champion with the same São Paulo team in 2000.

In addition to Corinthians, Vampeta also played for Brazilian clubs Vitória, Fluminense, Flamengo and Brasiliense, as well as for PSV Eindhoven (Netherlands), Paris Saint-Germain (France) and had a brief stint at Inter (Italy).
