Due to the heat and the weather, Sam Lowes was in the lead

Date:

The heat and prevailing weather conditions in the second Moto2 free practice session allowed British Sam Lowes (Kalex) to retain the category lead at the end of the first day of the Spanish Grand Prix in Jerez.

Sam Lowes rolled in the morning in 1:41.170 and no rival could better his morning times, apart from Spaniard Borja Gomez (Kalex), who finished twenty-fourth, and Japanese Soichiro Minamimoto ( Kalex), in his case to occupy the last position.

The Spaniard Arón Canet (Kalex) did not have much luck when he rolled on the ground in the last corner of the track, turning thirteen Jorge Lorenzo, giving access to the finish line, although there was enough time to repair the damage and try. to improve his time in the morning, a goal that no Moto2 rider could achieve in the first two-thirds of the session, due to the intense heat that reigned from midday on the Jerez de la Frontera circuit.

In addition to Canet, Pedro Acosta, Sam Lowes, Albert Arenas, Sergio García Dols and the British Rory Skinner went to this session, always without consequences for their physical integrity.

With Sam Lowes at the top of the table, he is followed by the Thai Somkiat Chantra (Kalex), the Spanish Alonso López (SpeedUp) and Pedro Acosta (Kalex), the British Jake Dixon (Kalex), the Spanish Albert Arenas (Kalex), the Italian Celestino Vietti (Kalex), Arón Canet, the Belgian Barry Baltus (Kalex) and the Italian Tony Arbolino (Kalex) in the top ten positions.
