The Japanese referee Yoshimi Yamashita made history by presiding over the first all-female trio of referees in a men’s Premier League match in Japan Football League.
Yamashita led defending League title champions Yokohama F. Marinos against Nagoya Grampus, accompanied by assistants Makoto Bozono and Naomi Teshirogi.
The Japanese referee she became the first woman to officiate a J-League Premier League match in September and is one of three women on the 36-referee list for the men’s World Cup.
