Guardiola is the England coach who needed the fewest games (404) to reach 1,000 goals with City in all competitions, surpassing legends such as Arsene Wenger, who achieved them in 554 games with Arsenal and Sir Alex Ferguson, in 601 with Manchester United.
City averaged 2.47 goals per game with Guardiola on the bench while in those 404 games they scored 331 goals.
Agüero, the most
Up to 40 players contributed to reach the thousand goals against 71 different rivals. Lead the table Sergio Aguero, with 124, ahead of Raheem Sterling (120), Gabriel Jesus (95) and two members of current staff, Kevin De Bruyne (79) and Riyad Mahrez (78). Below are those Foden (59), Ilkay Gundogan (54), Bernardo Silva (53), Haaland He is ninth on this list with 51 goals in his first season as a ‘citizen’. Leroy Sane complete the top-10 with 39.
Through seasons and through competitions
The breakdown of the thousand goals in each of Guardiola’s seven seasons at City is as follows: 122 in 2016-17, 143 in 2017-18, 169 in 2018-19, 149 in 2019-20, 131 in 2020-21, 131 2021-22 and 136 currently.
By competition, the thousand goals are distributed as follows: 652 in the Premier League, 175 in the Champions League, 103 in the FA Cup, 66 in the League Cup and 4 in the Community Shield.
